Hi, I am a tenant here. I am just wondering is it a MUST to have 1 agent representing the landlord and 1 agent representing the tenant when renting a factory? The thing is that I have contacted an agent representing the landlord and the agent said that I have to have another agent to represent me as he cannot represent both side and he has asked his colleague to represent me. However, I am not keen on asking another agent to represent me as it does not make any economic sense to me. Please advice.

Hi Gerrard,

I believe it is not a must to engage a agent to represent you in this case. However you have to ensure that all the LOI and TA documents are in proper order and is fare to you as a tenant. Having said that, if you do engage an agent to represent you, then the agent will try his/her best to negotiate a fair deal for you. If the agent you contacted insisted on you engaging his colleague to represent you and in doing so demand a fee, I suggest you report him to the Authorities for mis-conduct.
