I am the owner of an HDB Shophouse, previously doing business with the unit & recently decided to rent out my commercial unit. Do I still need public liability insurance or tenant have to buy public liability insurance? Will I be exposed to any risks if I terminate my premium and let tenants go buy it themselves?

Do check with HDB directly on your liability and responsibilities as the landlord. You should also check with your insurance advisor on this and take actions accordingly.

Hello

In my understanding, a public liability insurance is a must in all commercial unit as long as you have the public at trading at the site.

I have seen many contract that the tenant buy the public liability insurance with landlord name included in the plan.

You might want to check with a commercial space insurance agent too.
