Asked by Mr. Louis Teo
I had engaged a property agent to find me a tenant for my commercial property and upon closing the tenancy agreement process, the agent had required me to sign a Commission Agreement with him which required me to pay him commission repeatedly upon all future tenancy agreement renewals with the same tenants. I have paid him once for renewal and another renewal is coming up. Is that commission agreement legal/enforceable, do I have a way out of this perpetual agreement? I have given notification to terminate his services but he still insists that I am contractually bound to continue paying him commissions upon each renewal. Please advise if he is correct or is there a way for me to get out of his grasp. Thank you
