I have been running a relatively well-known and successful company for 10 years and have spent no less than S$500,000 on rental over the course of 10 years. I recently came across the opportunity to buy a SOHO commercial property in D15 which I decided to buy for investment - I think is the best thing I could have ever done and feel that I should have done that long ago. Advice for young investors, business owners or potential business owners - buying down a commercial property (only cash, no CPF) is a great investment for the long haul. People should seriously consider this as an option. Take it from me, after 10 years of paying rent, it's a great feeling to finally know that I can pay to own (freehold to boot) my own office space.
