Keppel Corporation has officially opened Ocean Financial Centre, one of the largest office developments in the Raffles Place area.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is also the Minister for Finance and Manpower, graced the opening ceremony as its guest-of-honour.
In his speech, he assured that the government will provide a steady supply of office space that will sustain the long-term growth of global companies in Singapore.
“We will make sure that prime office space, and more generally, commercial space in Singapore, stays competitive,” he said.
He added that Grade A office space in Singapore is around 45 percent cheaper than in Hong Kong and 25 percent cheaper than in Tokyo.
During the ceremony, Mr Tharman also unveiled a book depicting Ocean Financial Centre’s history. Written by K K Seet, the book highlights the history and rich heritage of Ocean Financial Centre, spanning nearly 150 years.
Meanwhile, Ocean Financial Centre offers approximately 885,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. It is the fourth Ocean Building to be built on the same site on the Singapore waterfront.
The 43-storey building is currently more than 80 percent occupied, with tenants comprising law firms, major financial institutions and multinational corporations.
