Award-winning architectural firm Broadway Malyan has been tasked with a
major role in the development of a new 125-acre city in North Bangalore,
developed by India’s Bhartiya Group.
Bhartiya City will be the
single largest urban development within the limits of any Indian
metropolitan area and will provide a mix of residential, hospitality,
retail and Special Economic Zone uses, as well as schools, healthcare
and sports facilities.
Broadway Malyan will provide support for
precincts two and three of the development, comprising 460,000 sq m of
mixed-use space above basement parking. The two precincts will also
feature six office towers, a convention centre, three hotels, a shopping
centre, park, cinema, and public performance area called Celebration
Square (pictured).
The firm will be responsible for the
architectural concept and schematic design, landscape design, retail
interior design and public realm strategy for the two precincts.
In
addition, Broadway Malyan will provide the concept residential design
for precinct one, which will include 2,400 residential units.
“This
project launch is a major chapter for our practice in India, where we
opened a permanent office in 2011, and it is testament to our integrated
and world-class team of diverse design experts working in close
partnership with our visionary client, across a wide range of sector
disciplines, to create an inspirational place that will improve the
quality of life for many,” said Stuart Rough, Chairman of Broadway
Malyan.
