Highlighting its commitment to sustainability, City Developments Limited (CDL) has completed upgrading works at the 66-storey Republic Plaza, making it one of the most energy-efficient buildings in Singapore.

Located at Raffles Place in the centre of Singapore’s CBD, the revamped Grade A office tower will likely save up to four million kWh of energy, equivalent to S$870,000 annual savings or “powering up 1,300 four-room HDB flats annually.”

CDL has been committed to sustainability in their property portfolio, with annual energy savings across its 37 sustainable buildings estimated to hit S$19.7 million between 2008 and 2011. Moreover, the company currently has 62 Green Mark certified developments, of which 21 have received the Platinum Award.

In light of this, indoor comfort systems and solutions provider Trane presented the Energy Efficiency Leader Award to CDL yesterday, in recognition of the outstanding energy efficiency and sustainability at Republic Plaza.

Cheng Sin Yew, Country General Manager for Trane in Singapore, noted, “CDL has reaped tremendous benefit financially and socially from its sustainability efforts and is setting a leading example for other leading developers in Singapore and throughout Asia.”
