Ibis Bencoolen Singapore (pictured), Econ Inn Bugis and Marrison Hotel have emerged as the top three favourite budget hotels in the Bugis area, according to a survey conducted by BudgetHotels.sg.
The study, which gathered travellers’ feedback and in-house statistics for over 30 budget hotels in the area, cited Ibis Bencoolen as having the best value-for-money, Econ Inn as the most affordable and Marrison Hotel for proximity to Bugis MRT station.
“From our statistics, we concluded that there are two different profiles of budget travellers. The first group goes for extremely cheap hotels and is willing to forgo some level of comfort and amenities. The second group does not mind paying slightly more for comfort, better amenities and well-known hotel chains. A key consideration for travellers when they book hotel rooms is the accessibility to public transport,” said Danny Lee, founder of BudgetHotels.sg.
“Hence, it is not surprising that the top three favourite budget hotels are located near Bugis MRT train station.”
The 538-room Ibis Bencoolen is run by Accor. The reigning TTG Asia travel award-winner for “Best Budget Hotel in Asia Pacific” offers amenities like a work desk, LCD TV, coffee and tea-making facilities and free Wi-Fi.
Meanwhile, the 38-room Econ Inn is believed to be the most affordable in the area at US$60 (S$74) per night. Its rooms come with basic amenities like LCD TVs as well as free Wi-Fi.
Apart from its proximity to public transport, the three-star Marrison Hotel comprises 96 rooms with flat-screen TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and free Wi-Fi.
