The Balestier and Novena area has become more vibrant in the last few years with numerous hotels and residential developments springing up in the area.
Most recently, Days Hotel and Ramada Singapore opened along Balestier Road as part of a S$300 million integrated development offering close to 800 guest rooms for business and leisure travellers. The three- and four-star hotels join the 241-room ibis Singapore Novena (pictured).
Despite the increased competition, hotel chains remain optimistic about the location’s prospects.
“The developments in the Balestier and Novena area have a positive impact on the accommodation sector. The area is lifting its profile and getting more public awareness. The competition in the area is going to have a positive spin – the Zhongshan Mall will give travellers more reason to stay in this area,” said Shamila Rolfe, General Manager at ibis Singapore Novena.
In operation since 2011, ibis Singapore Novena was the first international three-star hotel in the vicinity of Novena. It also has the distinction of being the first hotel in the country with a dedicated car lift and first ibis hotel to offer rooms with 32-inch TVs. Another highlight is the Oopen Pasta & Grill Restaurant which serves Asian and Western fare.
The hotel continues to maintain its high occupancy rate of over 90 percent since its opening. “The continuous high occupancy at ibis Singapore Novena is a testament to our customer’s faith in us,” Rolfe said.
ibis Singapore Novena last month marked the beginning of its third year of operation and rolled out several attractive promotions to celebrate the milestone.
