Global workplace provider, Regus, in collaboration with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and National Library Board (NLB), today launched the first Smart Work Centres located at libraries Jurong Regional Library, Geylang East Public Library and Toa Payoh Public Library.
The opening ceremony at Jurong Regional Library was attended by Communications and Information Minister, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim.
The three Regus Express centres offer private workstations, meeting spaces and other professional work environment facilities such as Wi-Fi, printing, copying and video-conferencing services.
“Smart Work Centres are alternative working spaces with professional facilities located within residential estates. Employees can look forward to better work-life balance and improved productivity by having access to professional collaborative spaces which are closer to home,” he said. “The addition of business facilities will give use the additional option to work in an environment with innovative features to further enhance their productivity.”
The centres allow individuals to choose from options to access its pay-per-use facilities, ranging by the hour to a monthly membership offering that provide unlimited access, without the need to commit to traditional long term lease for workspaces.
Regus Chief Executive Office (Asia Pacific), John Wright, said: “By using Regus Express, our customers are able to enjoy a better work-life balance with the flexibility to tailor work around their personal needs.”
Regus also highlighted that the centres are located within residential hubs. “They are closer to their homes and families, therefore reducing commute time.”
Notably, the centres stem from the IDA’s initiative to set up Smart Work Centres around Singapore, “to bring work closer to homes and the community.”
