Singapore will soon see another InterContinental hotel rise in the city-state as RB Capital appoints international hotel chain, InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), to manage the hotel project fronting the Singapore River.

Dubbed InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, the 225-room hotel is part of RB Capital’s “Robertson Quay Project,” which to rejuvenate the area. The hotel will be sited on the current Gallery Hotel site, and will open in 2016.

According to the release, the new luxury hotel will sit atop a mixed-use development comprising restaurants, bars and lifestyle retail outlets.

Commenting on the management agreement, Kishin RK, Chief Executive at RB Capital said: “The new InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay will be an exciting addition to Singapore’s luxury hotel landscape and is the crown jewel of our Robertson Quay rejuvenation project. We are confident its modern luxury design and positioning will be a strong draw for sophisticated business and leisure travellers to Singapore.”
It is noted that RB Capital and IHG were also partners in the launch of Holiday Inn Express Singapore in Clarke Quay earlier this year.

The freehold hotel will be the seventh IHG-operated hotel in Singapore and the second under the top-tier brand. IHG currently operates more than 2,200 rooms across four brands in Singapore: InterContinental Singapore, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road and Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay.
