Developers and building owners that promote eco-friendly structures can now proudly show off the eco-friendly credentials of their project with the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) newly-awarded plaques.
“The plaque allows building owners to prominently display the BCA Green Mark Rating awarded to a project. This will help users and visitors to distinguish the higher performing buildings. It is also a way of recognising the developer’s achievement in building and operating a sustainable property,” said BCA’s Chief Executive Officer John Keung after the unveiling of the BCA green building exhibition last Friday (5 September) at Bugis+.
Commissioned from Central Singapore’s District Mayor Denise Phua and sculpted by glass artist Barbara Jane Cowie, the BCA Green Mark Plaques are made from recycled glass.
Receivers of the plaques include CDL, Ascendas, Keppel Land, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
They are among the eight entities, whose buildings have clinched the highest green standards. Touted as the BCA Green Mark Champions, these organisations have attained a significant number of Green Mark buildings at Gold level and above.
It is noted that their projects account for 13 percent of all Green Mark certified buildings and 37 percent of Green Mark Platinum developments as of July 2014.
