Orchard Central (pictured) will be undergoing its first major renovation since its opening in 2009, mall-owner Far East Organization said in a statement Monday (14 December).
According to media reports, works on the 11-storey mall began in the fourth quarter of this year and will be completed in the third quarter of 2016. These will include the introduction of new escalators and reconfigured walkways.
In a statement to the media, Far East Organization’s Retail Business Group assistant director Eric Tong said the mall “will be welcoming a major international brand which will be setting up their first Southeast Asia flagship at Orchard Central,” adding that current tenants were informed of these plans since June 2015.
“Those affected, which is about 15 per cent of the tenants, were offered to relocate within Orchard Central or to alternative Far East Organization malls to ensure business continuity,” he said.
