Slated to open progressively in 2017, Resorts World Jeju (RWJ) is set to become South Korea’s largest integrated resort, with premium leisure and entertainment facilities spanning across a land area of approximately 2.5 million square metres. According to RWJ, the project will contribute to Jeju’s goal of 15 million tourists by 2018, and create thousands of job opportunities mostly for locals.
“RWJ will engage and work closely with the local business community during the construction phase and after the opening,” said Genting Singapore’s Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.
The US$1.8 billion ($2.4 billion) development will house Jeju’s largest family theme park of more than 20 rides and attractions and the island’s largest adventure waterpark. According to Genting Singapore, its premium hotels will have more than 2,000 rooms, boasting luxury villas, Jeju Island’s first 6-star hotel and a destination spa.
“In addition, there will be gaming entertainment, cultural facilities, leisure and entertainment amenities, as well as approximately 1,500 luxury serviced apartments and residential villas,” it said.
Resorts World Jeju is expected to be completed by 2019.
