Genting Group broke ground on the Chinese themed Resorts World Las Vegas (RWLV) – the first Las Vegas Strip development in almost 10 years.
“After 50 years of developing integrated resorts all around the globe, we are thrilled to be breaking ground on the Las Vegas Strip in the great state of Nevada,” said Genting Group Chairman and CEO KT Lim.
“Las Vegas is known for its world-renowned resorts, and the Genting Group looks forward to being a part of the city’s continued growth by creating a huge national and international draw with this Chinese themed world-class resort.”
Nevada governor Brian Sandoval said that the beginning of construction of Resorts World Las Vegas will create thousands of new jobs and generate billions of dollars in new economic activity within Nevada.
“Resorts World Las Vegas will truly help grow the Las Vegas market by attracting greater numbers of visitors, conventions and shows to our state. I am proud to welcome them as a bold new additional of the New Nevada economy,” he said.
Notably, the construction will create over 30,000 person-years of direct and indirect employment, which is defined as one person employed for a year.
RWLV is expected to sustain more than 13,000 direct and indirect employment once it go into operation.
Set to open in mid-2008, RWLV will feature multiple restaurants offering various authentic Chinese cuisines, three hotels, numerous retail offerings, 100,000 sq ft of gaming space and a top-tier nightlife venue.
