Keppel DC REIT on Thursday announced that it has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire the shell and core buildinng of Intellicentre 2 (IC2) from Macquarie Telecom in Sydney, Australia for AU$43.3 million (S$45 million).
The deal is Keppel DC REIT’s maiden acquisition since its listing five months ago.
A tier III data centre, IC2 has a total lettable area of 8,169 sq m and sits on approximately 20,000 sq m freehold land.
In the agreement, Macquarie Telecom will sign a 20-year triple-net lease agreement with Keppel DC REIT, which includes a mechanism for annual rental escalation and options to extend the lease. It will also manage the facility and be responsible for all property-related outgoings, the REIT said.
Mr Chua Hsien Yang, Keppel DC REIT CEO said, “Sydney is a prominent data centre hub given its strong data centre ecosystem with established telecommunication infrastructure, skilled IT resources, geological and political stability, as well as a high concentration of multinational corporations.
The acquisition will bring Keppel DC REIT portfolio to a total of nine data centres in key data centre hubs in Asia Pacific and Europe, with an asset under management value of about S$1.07 billion.
