A fire broke out at a construction site in the Tanjong Pagar area, near the Tanjong Pagar MRT station on Thursday (3 March). No injuries were reported.
According to the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) the fire broke at the construction site at Wallich Street at around 6:00 pm and eyewitnesses reported hearing a blast from the site.
In an enquiry by CommercialGuru, GuocoLand confirmed that the fire broke out at the construction site of its mixed-use development, Tanjong Pagar Centre.
CommercialGuru understands that Tanjong Pagar MRT station had been temporarily closed off but was later reopened after the fire was put out at 6:15 pm.
The SCDF said the fire “involved construction materials and was extinguished using two water jets.”
In a statement to the media, GuocoLand said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, adding that the safety of our staff and workers “remains our top priority.”
