JTC Food Hub @ Senoko will come with integrated facilities to boost the productivity and efficiency of its tenants, as well as lower their operating costs, JTC Corporation revealed.
The seven-storey complex will feature 50 modular factory units measuring 1,130 sq m each, and businesses will have the option of leasing adjoining units to form bigger spaces of up to 4,500 sq m each so that they can scale their operations as they grow.
It will also be equipped with a high-tech cold room and warehouse facility that tenants can tap on a pay-per-use basis. These facilities will be run by StorBest, which will also provide shared distribution and delivery services.
“With these features, companies can reduce their investments in cold room, warehouse and delivery operations, and optimise their space take-up as they only need to rent the space they really need,” said JTC CEO Png Cheong Boon during the signing ceremony on Monday (28 March).
Meanwhile, Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon, said at the ceremony: “With warehousing and logistics functions taken care of by a third-party operator, the Food Hub’s tenants will be able to focus on their core functions and undertake activities to enhance their competitive advantage.”
Together with DBS, OCBC and UOB, JTC looking to develop customised financing solutions for firms taking up 20-year leases at the hub.
According to Png, these financial packages, together with the new SME Working Capital Loan and Automation Support Package highlighted in the 2016 Budget speech, will “provide comprehensive support for small and medium-sized food companies to transform and grow their businesses”.
The JTC Food Hub @ Senoko is expected to be completed by Q2 2017.
