Marriot International’s hotel brand JW Marriott is set to debut in Singapore following City Development Ltd’s (CDL) announcement that it is in the process of appointing the hospitality chain to manage the 654-unit hotel at its Beach Road property, South Beach.
“A memorandum of understanding has been signed and completion of the appointment is expected shortly,” CDL said in an SGX filing on Wednesday (11 May).
South Beach, a joint venture between City Developments Limited (CDL) and IOI Properties Group Berhad, is a mixed-use development offering residences, office and retail spaces as well as a hotel. It opened in September 2015.
Once the hotel is rebranded as JW Marriot Singapore, the international hotel group will have two hotels under its management in the city-state. The chain also operates Marriott Singapore Tang Plaza on Orchard Road.
