A subsidiary of The Straits Trading Company, Straits Real Estate (SRE), has been in discussions with potential buyers for the sale of the office building at 114 William Street, Melbourne, Australia.
Straits Trading made the announcement in an SGX filing to clarify online reports in Australian newspapers that it has sold the 26-storey office tower in Melbourne.
Notably, The Australian and The Australian Financial Review reported that SRE had sold the office building for A$170 million (S$176 million) to another offshore group.
Meanwhile, Straits Trading noted that the talks may or may not lead to the sale of the building. “There is no certainty whatsoever that these discussions will result in any definitive agreement or transaction,” it said.
“The company will, in compliance with the applicable rules (including the Corporate Disclosure Policy of the Listing Manual of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited), make further announcements as appropriate,” it added.
