After two years of redevelopment, the SingPost Centre shopping mall (pictured) opened its doors on Monday (9 October), offering a digital shopping experience and larger retail space.
Housing 130 stores, the five-storey mall has doubled its gross retail floor area to 269,000 sq ft.
NTUC FairPrice features a scan-and-go system “where pre-registered customers collect scanners at the entrance and scan items as they shop before paying at dedicated counters” and an experiential corner that allows shoppers to “try out new products using augmented and virtual reality”. A mobile app also helps shoppers identify the shortest route to the product they are looking for.
The General Post Office, which is the largest post office in the country, offers the largest POPStation of 143 lockers, providing customers the flexibility to collect and drop off parcels at any time of the day.
Managed by CapitaLand, the mall also houses the city-state’s first all-laser cineplex, revealed SingPost Centre in a release. It noted that smart laser projectors have been installed at all eight screens to deliver superior image quality.
Popular Taiwanese hotpot chain UPOT also opened its first overseas outlet at the mall, making it Singapore’s first hotpot restaurant to serve food on a conveyor belt.
“The launch of SingPost Centre underscores SingPost’s transformation for a future where technology is changing how people shop, dine and play,” said SingPost deputy group CEO (corporate services) Mervyn Lim.
To celebrate its opening, SingPost Centre has lined up various promotions for its shoppers, including a $5 voucher for the first 3,000 shoppers who spend a minimum amount of $100 (or $160 for supermarket receipts).
