One of the top life insurance firms here, Prudential Singapore, commemorated the opening of its new corporate office on Tuesday (7 November), with Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam serving as the Guest-of-Honour.
Dubbed as PRU Workplayce, it got its name for integrating work with play, inspired by Albert Einstein’s philosophy that play is the highest form of research.
In fact, the office and its facilities are designed to inspire the company’s 1,000 employees to innovate and foster a creative work culture to support the Prudential Singapore’s future growth.
“Workplayce is the first of its kind workspace in the insurance industry, and forms the home base from where we’ll push the boundaries, create more extraordinary experiences for our customers, and re-image the future of insurance,” said it’s Chief Executive Officer Wilf Blackburn.
Aside from a barista café/pantry area, the property comes with rest pods and relaxation nooks, where employees can recharge and rejuvenate. Staff are allowed to choose the workspace best suited to their working styles and tasks at hand, and they can also explore the building’s nature-inspired water and greenery features.
Besides an amphitheatre and lounge, where staff can mingle regardless of position, there are also thematic meeting suites or stunning and immersive spaces that encourage employees to think out-of-the-box.
To celebrate the opening of Workplayce, Prudential Singapore has promised to donate $2 million to its long-time community partner, The Boys’ Brigade, to help the charity group provide healthy food to its more than 8,000 beneficiaries over a period of 10 years.
Meanwhile, Prudential revealed that they had invested about $70 million in technology last year in Singapore and increased its workforce by over 15 percent.
