Changi Airport on Sunday offered the public a sneak preview of Jewel, its new retail and lifestyle complex that is set to open in 2019, reported Channel News Asia.
In a video posted on its Facebook page, Changi Airport showcased the centrepiece attractions of the development – the 40m-tall indoor waterfall Rain Vortex, which features a light and sound show at night, and the Forest Valley, Singapore’s biggest indoor garden.
Boasting around 300 retail shops as well as food and beverage outlets, the five-storey complex will also offer early check-in services.
Built as an extension of Terminal 1, Jewel will be connected to Terminals 2 and 3 via pedestrian bridges.
It was designed by a consortium of consultants comprising local architects RSP, Safdie Architects and Benoy.
Jewel Changi Airport is 51-percent owned by Changi Airport Group, while the remaining 49 percent is held by CapitaLand Mall Asia.
