Great World City will unveil a fresh mix of retail and dining options with the completion of Phase 1A of its Asset Enhancement Initiative (AEI) by end-December.
It will also boast an additional entrance along Kim Seng Promenade which will directly lead visitors to its new dining zone.
Refurbishment works at Great World City began in mid-April and is expected to be completed in phases over a period of two years.
“The revitalised mall will create an exciting retail environment that caters to the changing needs and lifestyles of the population living in the vicinity and beyond,” said Allgreen Properties.
Ramen specialist Hototogisu Ramen at Level 1 brings the taste of Japan to the mall’s shoppers, while Imperial Treasure Restaurant Group expands its range of dining options with the re-opening of Imperial Treasure Steamboat. Existing tenant Imperial Treasure Cantonese Cuisine, on the other hand, will continue serving high-quality Cantonese-style dishes and dim sum at Level 2.
Other new F&B outlets at Great World City include artisan coffee brewer MAVRX Coffee Bar, local favourite Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Taiwanese restaurant chain Din Tai Fung.
Meanwhile, some existing tenants have been relocated in the mall, such as iROO, Spectacle Hut, Hush Puppies, Toyshunt, Toys”R”Us, Passionate Nails, Chiropractic First, Amazonia, motherswork and Food Junction.
Anchor tenant Cold Storage will remain at Basement 1, while Japanese supermarket Meidi-Ya will open its second local outlet within the city-state in June next year.
“With its specialised array of products and fresh seafood imported directly from Japan, the supermarket will offer shoppers easier access to flavours from the land of the rising sun,” noted Allgreen Properties.
Global Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo opened its new 10,500 sq ft outlet in Great World City in September, along with pet care retail chain Pet Lovers Centre.
While shoppers wait for Great World City’s final look in 2020, the mall has already prepared various activities for them.
Shoppers can get up close and personal with the characters from popular Hong Kong cartoon HappiPlayground as they take up residence at Great World City until 25 December this year.
A series of interactive activities will be held at Level 1’s event space, including decorative workshops for Christmas ornaments as well as an augmented reality experience, with a minimum spend of $50.
“Shoppers who spend a minimum of $150 in the mall will also get the opportunity to join a tea party with the characters from HappiPlayground, complete with special food and drink items like HappiTea and Hong Kong egglets,” added Allgreen Properties.
