A co-working space is set to be established at the One Raffles Place Shopping Mall following its asset enhancement initiative (AEI), which is scheduled to start in mid-2018, revealed an SGX filing on Wednesday (21 March).
Called Spaces, the co-working concept by IWG (formerly Regus) will occupy over 35,000 sq ft across a few levels at the six-storey mall in Raffles Place.
“Co-working spaces have been proven to create bustling work communities, and we are delighted that our partnership with Spaces will create more diversity and vibrancy for One Raffles Place Shopping Mall,” said Tan Shu Lin, chief executive of OUE Commercial REIT Management, which manages the mall’s owner OUE Commercial REIT.
Spaces is expected to open by early-2019 at the mall, which is part of the One Raffles Place integrated project and attracts nearly one million shoppers per month.
“This area is well-known for its very high quality and standards; a perfect fit for our community,” said Spaces co-founder Martijn Roordink, adding that they plan to support a diverse community of businesses, including the creative sectors and fintech groups.
Spaces is expected to further improve the mall’s business traffic. One of its unique aspects is its capability to host and launch retail and fashion-related events within a shopping centre.
Meanwhile, the revamp of One Raffles Place Shopping Mall aims to create more inviting and open retail spaces with better visibility. Another goal is to enhance shoppers’ experience and boost sales.
The mall will remain open during the revamp as the AEI will be phased to minimise disruptions.
