The SAFRA National Service Association said on Tuesday (3 July) that SAFRA Mount Faber in Telok Blangah is poised to undergo renovation works later this month to turn it into an “executive lifestyle club”.
Aside from getting get a new façade, the four-storey club for operationally-ready national servicemen (NSmen) will feature new facilities to cater to a growing number of professionals, managers and executives (PMEs) among Singapore army reservists.
These include a co-working space, which will be the first of its kind among SAFRA clubs. “It will be fully equipped with high-speed internet and Wi-Fi, projectors and video conferencing capabilities with other common workplace amenities,” said the organisation.
Moreover, SAFRA Mount Faber’s lobby will be improved so that it can host open mic nights and stand-up comedy shows, while the entertainment wing will be improved for staging live band performances.
There will also be new F&B outlets that offer alfresco dining, with American fast food restaurant chain Fatburger operating the first drive-through concept at the club.
To provide more fitness and wellness options, a new dance studio will be added to the club, complementing its existing recreational facilities like an EnergyOne gym, swimming pool, bowling centre, futsal court, badminton courts and outdoor multi-purpose court.
“The enhanced club will be a vibrant and convenient destination at the fringe of the city centre where NSmen can come to unwind, network, or bond with their families,” said SAFRA Mount Faber Executive Committee’s chairman LTC (NS) Kelvin Tan Lee Thong.
“If they need to attend to some urgent work in-between, they can easily get it done at the co-working space without the hassle of having to travel elsewhere.”
The makeover is expected to be completed by June 2019. While the club’s preschool, market and recreational facilities will continue to operate during the renovations, the entertainment and F&B outlets will be temporarily closed.
