The revamped Funan is set to house various government bodies, including the Department of Statistics (DOS), the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) and the organ of state Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), reported the Business Times.
DOS, which operates out of The Treasury, is expected to move to Funan later in the year and occupy around 5,000 sq m in the South Tower office block.
“DOS works closely with many of the agencies in The Treasury, and being in Funan will facilitate these work interactions,” said a Ministry of Finance (MOF) spokesman.
Part of the AGC will also be transferred to Funan early next year and occupy around 1,790 sq m in the South Tower, revealed an AGC spokesman.
“This is in line with AGC’s need for more office space in order to accommodate the increased headcount to manage the government-wide increase in demand for legal services,” noted the spokesman.
Meanwhile, SNDGO will relocate to Funan’s South Tower and take up around 1,800 sq m by year-end.
The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) is also set to occupy 360 sq m, while the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) will take up 170 sq m, but the space will be within the co-working facility operated by WeWork.
It is understood that WeWork has increased its space at Funan to 70,000 sq ft from 40,000 sq ft.
GovTech will be occupying the co-working space at Funan in order to work closely with SNDGO in building “digital solutions for citizens and businesses”, explained the agency’s spokesman.
Redeveloped from the former Funan DigitaLife Mall, Funan has a gross floor area of about 887,000 sq ft. The development comprises a retail component, two office towers held by trusts owned by CMT and the lyf co-living serviced residences.
The retail component is being held via CapitaLand Mall Trust (CMT), while the office towers are held by trusts owned by CMT. The serviced residences, on the other hand, are owned by fully-owned unit of Ascott Serviced Residence (Global) Fund.
Retail tenants in Funan include FairPrice Finest, Golden Village and theatre company Wild Rice.
