The mixed-use development is opening two months ahead of schedule.
Following a three-year redevelopment, Funan will finally reopen its doors to the public on 28 June, revealed CapitaLand.
Located in the heart of Singapore’s Civic District, it will have 190 brands clustered into six themes – Chic, Craft, Fit, Taste, Tech and Play.
Of these, an estimated 30 percent are new-to-market brands, flagships or new concept stores, with around 60 percent of the other brands trace their origins to Singapore.
“Shaped by its unique location in a new-gen live-work-play hub, Funan brings together experiential and activity-based retail at a scale not seen before in Singapore’s Civic District, while providing a collaborative platform for retailers to share their brand stories,” said CapitaLand Singapore’s managing director for retail Chris Chong.
“With a dedicated Community Manager, Funan goes beyond a singular focus on achieving a certain retail mix to curate community experiences that consumers are passionate about, as it seeks to build social connections and networks beyond the transactional.”
CapitaLand Mall Trust Management Limited CEO Tony Tan is pleased that the reopening is two months ahead of schedule.
“To date, Funan has achieved about 92 percent in commitment for its retail leasing and we expect more leases to be signed in the coming months. The robust demand for Funan’s retail space comes on the back of a strong pre-leasing commitment of 98 percent for its twin office blocks.”
Notable brands to be featured are tech company Dyson, British bicycle manufacturer Brumpton Junction, movie house company Golden Village and fitness company TFX.
Funan will also house homegrown brands such as footwear company Another Sole, jeweller Carrie K., fashion retailer ALL WOULD ENVY and confectionery company Nasty Cookie.
Meanwhile, Funan’s Tree of Life will be “the centrepiece of the development and the heart of its coretailing concept, where new retail pop-ups will be launched regularly to give shoppers new experiences”.
Funan will also have dedicated pods that people may book to curate their own pop-up store. Such pods may also be booked by tenants for their community engagement programmes.
