The new Raffles Hotel will be estled on a 100,000 sq m site and will have 61 villas that can accommodate 200 guests, and costs $1,500 per night on average.
Hotel operator Accor Group and property developer Royal Group revealed on Tuesday that a new Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa Singapore is slated to open in 2022 on Sentosa Island, reported The Business Times.
The resort, which has an estimated building cost of S$70 million, will be nestled on a 100,000 sq m site and will have 61 villas that can accommodate 200 guests. It will be designed by Yabu Pushelberg, a global design studio.
With an average rate of $1,500 per night, the villas range between 260 sq m for the one-bedroom villas and 450 sq m for the three-bedroom presidential villas.
Facilities will include a fitness centre, meeting rooms, restaurants and a bar, with the Raffles Butlers service and the Raffles Spa being among the resort’s unique offerings.
“The original Raffles Hotel was conceived as a beachfront property, but as Singapore has grown up around the property it is now located in the thriving centre of the city,” said Royal Group managing director Peter Wilding.
He added that the upcoming Raffles hotel will give “a modern, elegant resort experience” that would be complementary to the legacy of the “historic, heritage hotel in the heart of the city”.
The upcoming Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa Singapore joins other hotels that have recently sprung up on Sentosa. Mid-level hotels The Outpost Hotel and Village Hotel at Sentosa were launched this year and will soon be joined by The Barracks Hotel.
“By bringing the number of rooms to over 4,000 by 2022, Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa Singapore will further strengthen the array of accommodation options in Sentosa, opening new possibilities for leisure and business travellers and strengthening our unique proposition as an island-in-the-city with a wide plethora of holiday experiences to suit both locals and tourists,” said Jacqueline Tan, assistant chief executive at Sentosa Development Corporation.
