CapitaLand has once again been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and on the Dow Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DSJI Asia Pacific).
This is the company’s eight consecutive listing in the world index and 11th year on the regional index.
One of only two Singapore companies to be included on the world index, CapitaLand is also “the first and longest standing company in Singapore to be listed consecutively” on the regional index.
Inclusion on the DJSI indices is explicitly connected with the interest rate of the company’s $600 million sustainability-linked loans.
“Dovetailing CapitaLand’s ESG efforts with our cost of funding demonstrates CapitaLand’s commitment to embed sustainability into our business and to encourage others in the business community to do the same,” said Andrew Lim, CapitaLand Group’s group chief financial officer.
“We are delighted to have the support of banking partners that share a similar long-term commitment to sustainability, and we look forward to continue working together to identify and develop innovative ideas on sustainability-linked financing.”
CapitaLand also placed first across four categories in the GRESB1 2019. It was deemed the leader in the Global “Diversified – Listed” category, becoming the only Singaporean/Asian company to receive this award twice.
In the region, the company became the leader in the Asia “Diversified – Listed”, Asia “Diversified” and Asia-Pacific “Diversified” categories. CapitaLand Mall, meanwhile, placed first in the Asia “Retail – Listed” category.
CapitaLand also received an “A” for public disclosure in GRESB 2019, along with CapitaLand Retail China Trust, CapitaLand Commercial Trust and CMT.
The company hopes to achieve 100 percent green certification for its global portfolio by 2030.
It also targets to have at least 20 percent energy consumption from renewable energy by 2025 as well as reduce its water usage, energy consumption and carbon emission.
