As Singapore prepares for Phase 1 safe reopening, CapitaLand announced that it will roll out innovative tech solutions such as disinfection floormats, UV disinfection robots and air disinfection system to ensure the safety and well-being of its tenants, employees and shoppers.
Starting from June, high contact areas within all CapitaLand malls such as lifts and lift buttons, handrails, door entrance buttons, toilet cubicles and basins, touch screens and customer service counters will be coated with an anti-microbial disinfectant that can guard against virus and bacteria for up to six months.
To complement the anti-microbial coating, high contact touchpoints will continue to be cleaned and disinfected at “stepped up the frequency of once every two to three hours”, said CapitaLand in a release.
Disinfection floormats – a first for Singapore malls – will also be introduced at CapitaLand malls. The floormats will be poured with disinfection solution, allowing the soles of shoppers to be cleaned once they step on the floormats.
To be placed at key entrances, the floormats will be changed and cleaned twice daily.
Moreover, PhotoPlasma air disinfection system will be installed at all lift cars of CapitaLand malls. This technology energises atmospheric air into a plasma state, eliminating air-borne microorganisms such as bacteria and virus.
Automated escalator handrail disinfection and contactless lift activation will be trialled at The Atrium@Orchard.
The handrails of two high traffic escalators will be disinfected with an ultra UV device that is installed within the mall’s escalator system. CapitaLand has ensured that shoppers and tenants will not be exposed to UV light.
Two lifts at the mall will also be equipped with a QR code registration device that allows shoppers and tenants to scan a QR code, which activates the lifts without touching the lift buttons.
After mall operating hours, autonomous UV disinfection robots will also be deployed to conduct daily disinfection at the basement floors as well as level one of Bukit Panjang Plaza and Tampines Mall.
CapitaLand revealed that it will progressively roll out the robots at its other malls.
“As part of Temasek Foundation’s Stay Prepared initiative, frontliners working in CapitaLand malls including centre management staff, tenant employees, vendors and contractors will each receive two complimentary face shields,” it said, adding that the shield will be distributed from the first week of June.
Meanwhile, temperature screening, contact tracing and safe distancing will continue at CapitaLand malls, in line with authorities’ guidelines. Mask wearing will also be compulsory in the malls.
