CapitaLand, via its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), has pledged $200,000 to the President’s Challenge 2020.
Under its #CareKitWithLove initiative, CapitaLand also rallies the community to make 8,000 mask pouches to support children and youth with special needs including frontline staff from special education schools.
The charities set to receive the mask pouches include the Association for Persons with Special Needs, Lighthouse School, Metta Welfare Association, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore, Rainbow Centre Singapore and Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore.
Moreover, 2,000 mask pouches produced by Arts@Metta – a Metta Welfare Association programme promoting employment and independence of special needs alumni from the Metta School – will be put on sale to the public in October. CHF will pledge $20 for every item sold. The sales proceeds will go to Arts@Metta, while the donation of CHF will go to President’s Challenge 2020.
“As a socially responsible company, CapitaLand has been contributing to the communities we operate in globally,” said Tan Seng Chai, Chief Corporate and People Officer for CapitaLand Group and Executive Director of CapitaLand Hope Foundation.
“Our philanthropic arm, CapitaLand Hope Foundation, has contributed more than $3 million over 13 years to President’s Challenge to benefit over 40 charities that support the needs of vulnerable children and elderly in Singapore.”
Meanwhile, volunteers for the #CareKitWithLove initiative with sewing machine at home can register for a kit that includes materials for producing 50 mask pouches as well as a QR code that links to a video tutorial, said CapitaLand in a release.
“The kit can be collected from Metta Welfare Association or the Click + Collect service at Basement 2 of CapitaLand’s Funan, from now till 15 October 2020. The completed mask pouches can be deposited at Metta Welfare Association or Funan’s Concierge by 29 October 2020.”
Volunteers without a sewing machine, on the other hand, can book a slot to make the mask pouches at Metta Welfare Association or at Swiss sewing concept store BERNINA (Singapore).
To date, CapitaLand has pledged more than $2.2 million to support vulnerable elderly, underprivileged children, community care staff and healthcare workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Singapore.
