Following a 20-month renovation, Orchard Road shopping mall Shaw Centre will reopen its doors this weekend.
Built in 1972, this was its first single biggest revamp for the shopping centre.
“It has been an extremely moving project for us to inject new life into this building that is more than 40 years old. We demolished three floors and redistributed the levels to align Shaw Centre with Shaw House. Now the two malls exist side-by-side seamlessly like one,” Christopher Shaw, Executive Vice President of Film Distribution, Shaw Organisation.
Offering nearly 121,300 sq ft of retail space, Shaw Centre now comes with two-storey high glass retail frontage and urban verandas, and features a tenant mix of flagship stores, and F&B concepts.
According to the release, the brands opening their flagship stores at Shaw Centre include Polo Ralph Lauren, Nike and SK II Boutique Spa.
A new basement was also added to Shaw Centre that links to the Isetan supermarket at Shaw House. The premise will house a Food Republic food court.
Shaw Centre will reopen this Saturday (15 November), coinciding with the Orchard Road Chirstmas Light-Up, which will be officiated by President Tony Tan Keng Yam.
