The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) announced Tuesday (30 June) the release of the second commercial site at Woodlands Square. The site was made available for sale under the Reserve List of the first half of 2015 Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme.
According to URA, the release of the second commercial site in Woodlands Regional Centre will sustain the development momentum of the precinct as a key commercial cluster outside the city. “This is in line with the government’s objective of decentralising employment centres to bring job opportunities closer to homes.”
Spanning 22,384.8 sq m, the site offers a maximum permissible gross floor area (GFA) of 78,347 sq m.

The proposed development will have at least 60 per cent of the maximum GFA or 47,009 sq m dedicated for office use, at least 1,000 sq m for childcare centre, and a maximum of 8,000 sq m for shop and F&B use. The URA said the remaining GFA can be developed for additional office, serviced apartments and/or residential uses, of which not more than 23,504 sq m is to be for serviced apartments and/or residential uses.
A pedestrian mall will run through the heart of the district, connecting the existing MRT and bus interchange, to Causeway Point and the Woodlands Civic Centre, it noted.
“Woodlands Regional Centre will be transformed into a vibrant live-work-play precinct that serves as a key commercial cluster in the North Region,” said URA.
Woodlands Regional Centre—which comprises two distinctive districts—will be “transformed by the upcoming commercial developments at Woodlands Central and the mixed-use business cluster in Woodlands North Coast,” it added.
