Tenants, staff and visitors at Singapore Science Park 1 can now rent GPS-enabled bicycles and e-scooters after the property owner Ascendas-Singbridge Group teamed up with Neuron Mobility to launch a six-month personal mobility devices (PMD) sharing trial on Wednesday (14 June).
In total, 20 bicycles and 50 e-scooters are available for rent until 13 December on an ad-hoc basis at a rate of S$0.50 per 15 minutes through Neuron’s mobile app. Subscription passes will also be offered progressively during the trial.
After riding to their destination, users are required to return the vehicle at any of the six parking zones at Ascent, The Franklin, Oasis building, CINTECH I and IV, as well as at the 3Cs (The Chadwick, Curie and Cavendish).
Once the testing period ends, Ascendas-Singbridge will conduct a thorough review of the PMD sharing scheme as it mulls for its official roll-out.
This move is in line with the company’s broader efforts to further enhance the accessibility of the park, which is already well served by public transport and shuttle bus services.
“Our tenants will now have an efficient, alternative mode of transport to work, meetings, lunch or other social appointments in and around the Park,” said Ascendas-Singbridge Deputy Group CEO Manohar Khiatani.
“The trial will allow us to gauge receptivity to the scheme and monitor usage so that we can improve intermodal connectivity and point-to-point travel within Singapore Science Park 1.”
Zachary Wang, CEO of Neuron Mobility, a provider of intelligent transportation solutions, added that they are delighted to partner with Ascendas-Singbridge to pilot their first PMD-sharing scheme in Singapore Science Park 1, which makes an excellent testing site.
