In a Facebook post, Changi Airport gave the public a first look of its new Terminal 4.
Among those shared were the interior of Terminal 4’s transit areas, departure gates and departure halls.
Also posted was a photo of the airport’s boarding area, where passengers can watch planes land and take off on Runway 2 while awaiting their flights.
After over two years, construction work on the new terminal, which is set to be opened in the second half of 2017, was completed in December 2016, with the interior fittings and operational preparations still taking place, reported Today Online.
Terminal 4’s construction also involved two multi-storey car parks offering 1,700 parking spaces, three vehicular and pedestrian bridges as well as a two-storey taxi holding area.
A 68-metre tall ramp control was also constructed to improve air traffic controllers’ management of aircraft movements within the apron as well as taxiways around the terminal.
Changi expects the opening of Terminal 4 to boost the airport’s total passenger capacity from 58.7 million in 2016 to around 85 million per year by 2020.
Last month, Changi revealed that it is on course to handle 60 million passengers this year. It is expected to handle up to 135 million passengers per year once Terminal 5 opens in late-2020s.
