Industrial landlord JTC announced on Thursday (8 February) that many global aviation companies have committed to invest over $300 million in the next five years to set-up operations or expand their presence in Singapore, particularly in Seletar Aerospace Park.
For instance, PPG plans to set up its first facility in the park. The Application Support Centre will serve as the aerospace products and services provider’s regional aerospace centre in Southeast Asia.
“JTC’s development in Seletar Aerospace Park is exactly where PPG needs to be to fully support our key tier one aerospace customers,” said Anne Neeson, PPG general manager for Asia Pacific.
GE Aviation also intends to establish an engine component manufacturing facility at the park by occupying two ready-built units at JTC aerospace. It has also teamed up with SIA Engineering Company to create an engine overhaul company based in the city-state.
Moreover, Airbus plans to strengthen its presence further by setting up an Airbus Campus in the park, in addition to the existing Airbus Asia Training Centre, Airbus Helicopters and Satair.
“Being part of Seletar Aerospace Park community for eight years, we are delighted to further strengthen our presence in the park,” noted Airbus President for Asia Pacific Pierre Jaffre.
Meanwhile, Hawker Pacific Asia plans to take up an additional 1.6ha of land to double its operational capability in Seletar Aerospace Park.
“Operating from Seletar Aerospace Park provides our customers with a convenient maintenance location at the heart of the Asia Pacific region, and Hawker Pacific benefits from the structure of supporting industries and aerospace service providers based within the Park,” noted Louis Leong, Vice President for Asia at Hawker Pacific.
At present, the park houses more than 6,000 professionals from over 60 aviation companies, including Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney and Bombardier.
