Surbana Jurong has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s Help University to set up a Green Design and Technology Centre.
To be based in Help University’s Subang 2 campus, the centre will offer certificate courses on sustainable urban planning, renewable energies, engineering, architecture and infrastructure.
Aside from focusing on research and development in the said fields, the centre also plans to offer these courses at postgraduate and undergraduate level, as well as in its international schools at a later stage.
As part of the MoU, both Surbana Jurong and Help will develop courses on sustainable building design for commercial property developers and consultants in Malaysia as well as the region.
“Our partnership with Help will train a new generation of architects, planners and engineers in sustainability in the built environment, while increasing awareness and capabilities among developers. This will help ensure that more cities of the future are resilient and sustainable,” said Surbana Jurong group chief executive officer Wong Heang Fine.
Surbana Jurong is one of the biggest Asia-based urban and infrastructure consulting firms. With an annual turnover of around $1.5 billion, the Singapore-based firm has over 120 offices across more than 40 countries in Asia, UK, Australia, the Middle East, the Americas and Africa.
