A hotel site measuring 55,126.29 sq ft at the intersection of Club Street and Cross Street was launched for sale via public tender on Thursday (27 Sept), according to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
Launched under the second half 2018 Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme, the confirmed list site has a gross floor area of 261,670.66 sq ft and can potentially yield some 390 hotel rooms.
Located near the Chinatown and Telok Ayer MRT stations, the 99-year leasehold site will also be close to the future Maxwell MRT station. It is also within proximity to Sri Mariamman Temple and Thian Hock Keng temple.
The upcoming hotel can have a maximum height of four storeys for the low-rise zone and 75m above sea level for the high-rise zone.
There are other hotels in the area such as the existing Parkroyal on Pickering and The Scarlet, as well as future hotel projects at China Square and Far East Square.
The tender exercise for the Chinatown hotel site will close on 15 January 2019.
Meanwhile, the URA revealed that the tenders for two residential sites that will be held next month will have the same closing date as the Club Street hotel plot.
These comprise two residential plots in Tampines Avenue 10 and Kampong Java Road.
