CapitaLand has been recognised for its exemplary contribution to the community amid the COVID-19 pandemic, winning it the ‘Organisation of Good’ at the President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) 2020.
Conferred by President Halimah Yacob, the award recognises exceptional givers who voluntarily devoted their time to create positive impact to the community during the pandemic.
CapitaLand was one of the earliest companies within the city-state to support the immediate needs of communities affected by the pandemic.
In a release, the group revealed that it has contributed over $2 million in Singapore to-date and more than $6 million globally to support more than 55,000 people including underprivileged children, vulnerable elderly, healthcare workers and community care staff affected by Covid-19.
It has also mobilised over 1,000 staff and community volunteers to conduct virtual engagement sessions with the elderly, deliver meals, distribute hand sanitisers, help the elderly stay connected with families using tablets, and make mask pouches for youth and children with special needs.
“CapitaLand is humbled to receive the ‘Organisation of Good’ award for our efforts to support the vulnerable communities impacted by COVID-19. As a socially responsible company, CapitaLand has been helping the communities where we operate globally. This gives us a sense of purpose, a soul to the company,” said Lee Chee Koon, CapitaLand Group Chief Executive Officer and Director of its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF).
He also thanked the group’s staff “who contributed over 7,000 volunteer hours through various activities and also our tenants, business partners and customers for joining us to help those in need”.
“I am encouraged by this strong community spirit to build a more caring and inclusive society,” he said.
