Hotels operators in Singapore have come up with various staycation packages that include perks and attractive discounts targeted at couples and families.
Hotels operators in Singapore have come up with various staycation packages that include perks and attractive discounts targeted at couples and families, reported Channel News Asia (CNA).
This comes after hotels were allowed to resume staycations and reopen recreation areas for children on 3 July as part of the second phase reopening of the economy, subject to authorities’ approval.
To attract guests, hotels are offering discounts and other perks.
Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, for instance, has three staycation packages with one priced at almost 50% discount. Typically priced at $720++, the “Blissful Escapes” package is now offered at $380++.
Other perks include complimentary parking, flexible check-in and check-out timings as well as credits that could be used at the hotel’s in-room dining and food and beverage (F&B) outlets, CNA quoted Alvin Lim, the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, as saying.
Targeting wellness-conscious guests, Far East Hospitality’s Oasia Hotel Downtown offers packages that come with a one-hour fitness session. Guests at the Barracks Hotel, on the other hand, can look forward to a personalised tea tailoring experience.
Aside from offering attractive room rates, Hotel Yan is also planning to include tour itineraries for its staycation packages.
Hotels that reopen for staycation will have to comply with safe management measures such as reducing capacity and intermingling at hotel lobbies, requiring everyone to wear a mask, screening everyone prior to entering the hotel premises and implementing the SafeEntry digital check-in system.
Hotels are also mandated to keep records of guests for at least 28 days following check out. They are also required to adopt rigorous disinfecting and cleaning regimes throughout the hotel.
A spokesman for the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) revealed that over 100 hotels have submitted their applications to resume staycations. Of these, 35 have been approved as of 15 July, which includes Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa.
Since announcing its reopening on 10 July, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa has received 1,000 emails and calls on days with higher enquiry volume.
However, it is limiting occupancy at 50% to comply with mandatory safety requirements for both hotel guests and staff, said Piotr Kupiec, General Manager at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa. As such, the hotel is fully booked for most weekends until mid-August.
Far East Hospitality, whose hotels like Oasia Hotel Downtown have received approval, is also capping occupancy at no more than 50% during periods like weekends.
Far East Hospitality CEO Arthur Kiong revealed that they have seen an increase in bookings, with “more than 80 enquiries per day” across its various platforms.
Hotel Yan, on the other hand, saw about 90 bookings per day following its reopening.
Releasing up to 20% of its rooms for staycations guests, the boutique hotel at Tyrwhitt Road is fully booked “for the month of July and some dates from August”.
“Given the approval from STB that only came in earlier this week, we are strongly encouraged with the number of bookings received,” said a hotel spokesperson as quoted by CNA.
