A plan to house business travellers to Singapore in a travel bubble within dedicated facilities has been delayed, reported Singapore Business Review.
This comes as the facilities, which should have received its first batch of travellers by the second half of January this year, are yet to be opened.
First announced by Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing in December 2020, the plan was known as Connect@Singapore and is part of Singapore’s efforts to reopen its borders in a controlled manner.
Facilitating essential global business exchanges, Connect@Singapore supports the revival of the city-state’s hospitality sector and air hub status.
Under the plan, entry would be allowed for a limited number of official, business and high economic value travellers who are coming for short-term stays of up to 14 days to Singapore.
Travellers will be required to stay in a bubble at dedicated facilities, which will be placed under strict health protocols.
