The WELL Health-Safety Rating rates all buildings and space types, with an emphasis on maintenance protocols, operational policies, stakeholder engagement as well as emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment.
Ocean Financial Centre, Keppel REIT’s premium Grade A office tower, has emerged as the first commercial building in Singapore to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), on the back of its robust health and safety management.
An evidence-based, third-party verified rating, the WELL Health-Safety Rating rates all buildings and space types, with a focus on maintenance protocols, operational policies, stakeholder engagement as well as emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment.
The Grade A office tower is managed by Keppel Land Limited.
Strict management measures have been implemented since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide Keppel REIT’s building occupants with a safe and conducive work environment.
In fact, it was the first buildings within the Central Business District to roll out its pandemic response plan, which includes isolation procedures, temperature screening and tenant communication.
Ocean Financial Centre uses an advanced air filtration system to maintain good indoor air quality, while the monitoring of its water management systems has been ramped up during the pandemic to ensure high water quality.
The frequency of disinfection for high-frequency touchpoints has also been increased to boost standards of cleanliness. This is complemented by “the use of anti-microbial disinfectant coating on touchpoints such as toilet door handles and lift buttons, as well as ultraviolet-C (UVC) light at escalator handrails”.
There were also automatic hand sanitiser dispensers at common areas.
“Protecting the health and safety of our stakeholders has always been our top priority, especially amidst the pandemic. Ocean Financial Centre, as the first commercial building in Singapore to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating, is a testament to our strong commitment to operational excellence at Keppel REIT’s properties,” said Paul Tham, CEO of the REIT’s manager.
“We are heartened by IWBI’s recognition of our efforts in ensuring a safe and conducive work environment for our building occupants at Ocean Financial Centre, including through the proactive adoption of technology and having the best-in-class infrastructure.”
