More crowds are expected to visit the riverfront after the opening of InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay hotel on Thursday (12 October), reported the Business Times.
The 10-storey property is the second InterContinental-branded hotel in Singapore and is located next to the ground-level retail podium at The Quayside condominium.
Both the hotel and the retail podium features nearly 100,000 sq ft of F&B and lifestyle businesses across 25 outlets. That in the retail podium started operating in phases since June 2017, while the remaining shops in both properties will open within the next few months.
In particular, the first two levels of the hotel houses Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, cocktail bar Marcello and Italian restaurant Publico as well as Japanese eateries ISHI sushi bar and Plum & Toro.
The hotel and the retail podium is owned by RB Capital, which spent a total of $400 million to acquire and renovate them.
According to RB Capital CEO Kishin RK, InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is marketed as a “residential-inspired luxury hotel”.
All 225 rooms come with timber fittings and a bar with do-it-yourself (DIY) cocktail kit. There is also a private alcove with a lazy chair and a coffee table by the window.
“The interior design of the hotel takes inspiration more from people’s homes and their apartments. So when you walk into the hotel, you walk into particular bedrooms, it feels more residential and personal rather than another hotel,” said Scott Hetherington, CEO for Asia for the hospitality unit of JLL, which selected the hotel operator for RB Capital.
Guests are invited to stay in the newly-opened hotel as rooms are offered under special promotional rates starting from $335 per night inclusive of GST and service charge until 30 November 2017.
Meanwhile, InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is one of the over 10 hotels opening here this year. Another is Andaz Singapore, which is set to open at the Duo project in Beach Road by November.
