Singapore-listed Hatten Land launched the first wellness-themed development in Malacca, Malaysia on Friday (21 July) in an event officiated by the state’s Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Haji Idris bin Haji Haron, revealed an SGX filing posted on the same day.
With a gross development value of about RM300 million (S$95.5 million), the project has a gross floor area of about 570,400 sq ft and is known as SATORI, which means enlightenment in Japanese.
It consists of 192 serviced suites and a 336-room hotel as well as an 85,250 sq ft retail mall with an adjacent car park capable of accommodating 457 vehicles.
SATORI also features over 50 world-class facilities for fitness, beauty, leisure and overall well-being including an infinity pool, a herb garden, sky lounge, reflexology stone track, one-stop fitness & aqua gym, plus a beanbag theatre.
Located in the heart of Malacca City, the development is expected to benefit from the area’s vibrant tourism scene as the metropolis’ rich historical heritage attracts about 16 million tourists per year. The project is also envisioned to set a name for itself in the multi-billion-dollar global wellness-tourism market.
“Pioneering a new holistic wellness niche in Melaka, SATORI is the only one of its kind to combine health, fitness, beauty treatments, leisure as well as homes and a hotel, all in one vibrant destination,” said Hatten Land Executive Chairman and Managing Director Dato’ Colin Tan.
“Moreover, SATORI’s proximity to Hatten Land’s iconic Hatten City, and major developments such as the deep sea port, cruise terminal and Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) positions this project for future growth in one of the most important cities along peninsular Malaysia’s west coast straddling the Straits of Malacca, one of the world’s busiest sea lanes,” he added.
