The Global Indian International School (GIIS) announced on Wednesday (28 February) that it is poised to build Singapore’s most technologically advanced smart campus in the upcoming Punggol Digital District (PDD).
The campus is expected to be among the first completed buildings in the highly-anticipated digital district. Phase 1 comprises a seven-storey school containing over 130 classrooms capable of accommodating about 3,500 students within its 33,000 sq m land area.
All classrooms will feature tablets, projectors and interactive TV display panels. The facilities come with ‘virtual classroom’ e-learning technology that lets students communicate with a network of specialist teachers, industry leaders and international universities, as well as fellow students from other GIIS campuses across seven countries.
Aside from its environment labs, the campus will house three research centres focusing on design technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as robotics and artificial intelligence.
The school will also be equipped with sports data analytics, 40GB fibre broadband connectivity, a facial recognition system and various eco-friendly features.
“Students and their learning outcomes are at the heart of the design of our SMART campus, which is likely the largest of its kind in Asia and possibly the world, with technologically advanced systems that will enrich our award-winning 9GEMS model of holistic education,” said Atul Temurnikar, Co-Founder & Chairman of GIIS.
Expected to start operating in Q3 2018, the new smart campus is part of GIIS’s global network of award-winning schools across 23 campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, UAE, Vietnam and India.
Founded in 2002, GIIS offers a comprehensive range of International and Indian curricula for Kindergarten to Year 12 students. These include the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), Cambridge IGCSE, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Global Montessori Plus programme.
