Jewel Changi Airport has found tenants for nearly 90 percent of its total retail space ahead of its highly-anticipated opening in March 2019, reported the Straits Times.
On Thursday (11 Oct), the mixed-use project’s leasing head Tang Mui Neo revealed that 25 percent of the shops there will be flagship stores and new brands in Singapore.
These include Pokémon Centre Singapore, the only permanent store for the popular franchise outside Japan, which will sell Pokémon games and toys.
She also confirmed that American restaurant chain Shake Shack will open its first local branch at Jewel. Fast food chain A&W will also establish its first Singapore store at Jewel after closing its previous outlet here in 2003.
“Our food menu will be the first of its kind in Asia, it will combine the best-selling items from our A&W restaurants around the world, epitomising Jewel’s location as an international hub,” said Kelvin Tan, marketing and communications director at A&W’s parent firm, A Great American Brand International.
Among the dishes to be served at A&W is its Indonesian golden aroma chicken and Japanese cream cheese burger.
Other F&B outlets launching their first Singapore store in Jewel include Swiss chocolatier Laderach and Norwegian seafood restaurant Pink Fish, as well as Chongqing-based firms Xiao Bin Lou and You’s Kitchen.
Nike will also open its biggest outlet in Southeast Asia; a 1,000 sq m shop at Jewel.
Meanwhile, around 45 percent of the retailers at the complex will be local retailers, noted Jewel’s CEO Hung Jean.
For instance, Tiger Beer will launch its first concept store there. Dubbed The Tiger Street Lab, it will sell unique seasonal brews along with street food and other items.
Chef Violet Oon will establish a 350 sq m eatery, which will be her largest so far, offering Singapore delicacies like satay, beef rending and dry laksa.
Collin’s will open its first halal restaurant that will be managed by chef Koh Han Jie, the first Singaporean who took home the trophy at the Young Talent Escoffier Asia competition.
“We hope to showcase Singapore to the world, positioning it as a platform where local brands will be exposed to an international audience, while simultaneously bringing new and familiar global brands to Singapore,” she noted.
