The world’s only permanent Pokemon Center outside of Japan is poised to open at Singapore’s highly-anticipated Jewel Changi Airport, along with other retail shops, on 17 April.
In line with its opening at the mixed-use project costing $1.7 billion, Retail News Asia reported that Pokemon Center Singapore has given the public a preview of its design.
The store’s entrance will feature a large statue of Lapras, ridden by Pikachu, and Celebi, the cute Pokemons shown in the official logo of Pokemon Center Singapore.
Although the store is expected to be smaller or roughly the same size as Pokemon Center Kyoto, which is presently one of Japan’s smallest Pokemon Centers, it is expected to have the same design and ambiance as the Japanese outlets. These include having spaces for special events like video game tournaments, Pikachu and Eevee meet-and-greets, as well as trading card game (TCG) competitions.
But to differentiate Pokemon Center Singapore from the Japanese branches, it will sport green wall paper, as well as bamboo and wood decorations. This was inspired by Jewel Changi Airport, which will not only feature the world’s largest indoor waterfall, but also a lush man-made Forest Valley with some 2,500 trees and 100,000 shrubs.
